My FIVE Year Old

Makoy turned five on the 13th of February. His actual Birthday was a total downer. He was throwing up and I was flat in bed, so there was no celebrating. He opened the presents we got him and then we all laid in bed. Exciting, I know. His Birthday party was rescheduled for the following weekend, the 19th. We had a ton of fun with family and friends. He wanted a fireman themed party. He had a fire truck pinata and other fireman decor. He had a lot of fun and made up for his lousy actual Birthday. I can't believe my little boy is FIVE years old! The time has honestly gone by so incredibly fast. He amazes me every day with how smart he is. He showed me what unconditional love is and made me a mom. We have had five fantastic years with him and I am so grateful for him. I wanted to remember some of the things he is doing at this age and things he likes to do. Warning...there is a lot of reading and pictures. I get a little camera happy sometimes.

He loves to dance. He can stand on his head like this forever, spin around, do all sorts of stuff. He says he wants to be a break dancer when he grows up.

He loves to cook

He did these by himself

He loves to take pictures, mainly of himself as seen below =)

He loves his sister

He loves to clean. Gross picture with the garbage but oh well. He's glaring but really does love it

He loves preschool. This is a robot he made there-so cute.

Here are some other things about my sweet boy

-He loves to be read to. We try to read books every night, but it doesn't always happen.
-He loves to tell knock knock jokes. He tells them all day sometimes. He doesn't quite get the concept of them which is even funnier. Here's one of my faves he tells. "Knock knock...who's there? Banana....banana who? Banana sandwich. Silly kid.
-He loves music. He can sing on key and remember a song after hearing it once or twice. That is how he has learned a lot of his school stuff, putting it to music. He also loves to make up songs.
-His favorite color is blue and red, it's a tie.
-His favorite food is string cheese. Does that count as a food?
-He weighs 37 lbs and is 42 inches tall.
-He is so smart! He can write and recognize all letters in the alphabet. He can write his first and last name. If you tell him a word, he can tell you what it starts with. He can count to 70 or 80 depending on what he feels like that day.....sometimes 100
-He can be very shy and has my curse....blushing. Poor kid

Here he is on his Birthday, poor boy.

Opening presents in bed

His favorite gift, the old school Nintendo. He is already hooked.

Birthday decor

This was my second cake. Apparently the fireman cake pan was more of a decoration. It stuck no matter what we did.

The improvised cake. I ran to the store 2 hrs before the party and he just had a regular, plain ole shaped cake. He was happy though since it was rainbow chip frosting. Plus he loved the candles.

Birthday boy

Makoy and his besty, Livvie. He adores her and she is such a sweetie.

More of Makoy and Livvie

Opening gifts

I get this face a lot- he was sick of posing for me.

Emma and Livvie checking out the gifts

I'm not sure what Emma and Makoy were so bummed about

My mom started a food fight with our friend Isaac. He put frosting in her hair-he won.

This pinata said it was a pull string when I bought it- lies. The kids all took a turn kicking it or whatever they felt. Are we redneck? Maybe so =) We had to improvise

Picture Post

I have so many pictures to post. This is just going to be lots of pictures in no particular order. I swear I don't just take pictures of Channing. My next post will be a bunch of Makoy. He hates pictures though, so it takes a lot of bribing and tricking. I have more of her since she can't run away from me. =) She has her first ear infection (joy) so she's been pretty fussy. Overall though she is such a sweet baby. She giggles all the time and is so much fun! Here is a video of her new fascination, balloons. If she sees one she starts to laugh. Once you start hitting it around, she is in hysterics. She was laughing even harder but of course we weren't able to capture it. What we got is still pretty cute though. Please ignore my disgusting self and messes in the background.

I love this girl!

Flirty smile

She was yelling at me...not a fan of tummy time

This is her hair in the mornings, out of control. This was sadly more tame than usual =)
A baby after a bath..nothing better!

Concentrating on grabbing the camera
She always sleeps this way-love it

Her new bff- she attacks this doll. She coos like crazy when she has it and drools all over it.
This is from Christmas, better late than never! They love eachother. Makoy's eye looks scary but don't worry, it's just my camera. =)

Such a good big brother

Little pals...although she doesn't look amused
I love my kids so much, and I love being a stay at home mom! I'm so grateful.

Three Months And An Uninvited Guest

Wow, it feels like it's been forever. Since my last post, Channing has turned three months old and Makoy has turned five. I will post about Makoy's Birthday on another day. Be warned, this is a long post. If you don't want to read it, scroll to the very end for some cute pictures! First, the uninvited guest. This guest came with no warning, unexpectedly and definitely was NOT invited. The name of this guest....illness. Oh illness, I LOATHE you. I can easily say that this has been the worst winter our home has seen. Lets start with Channing. She has had a cough that sounds like she is a 45 year old smoker for six weeks now. Extremely long story short, after me being a stalker at the Dr. office, they decided to listen to her breathing again. When they had before it was "just a cold" I'm "just a mom" so I don't know what I'm talking about. This time instead of the "just a cold" answer I heard "Oh, her lungs are awful noisy. Lets send you over to EIRMC for an rsv test." We got that done, negative. Phew. Then the next day they called and had us go back for a whooping cough test. No one told me what that required. I thought it would be a swab like the rsv, but no. It took five nurses holding my poor baby down to get to a vain to draw blood. They poked and prodded and had to do the other arm as well. She absolutely FREAKED and for good reason. We still haven't heard the results on that. Here she is below after her blood draw. I had to get a pic of her little arms.

Next, Makoy. He got a fever a few weekends ago that lasted from Friday to Sunday. He slept from 10 AM to 6:30 PM, so not like him. Come Monday though he seemed fine and we carried on with life. Thursday rolls around and he is lethargic. He slept from 7:30 Wednesday night to 3:30 the next afternoon. I woke him up to go to the doctor and he fell asleep again in the car. Crazy! Turns out he had strep. I have never seen him so miserable. I had to carry him everywhere, he didn't eat for a good week, and all he did was sleep. We felt terrible because he had to miss his Birthday party at school Friday, but we were going to make up for it for him over the weekend. Party hardy right?! Wrong!

Poor, sick boy. He did not move from this position, even when they swabbed his throat and nose.

So Thursday night I started feeling like I had a cold. I was not feeling great, but thought by morning all would be well. In the middle of the night I was begging Shane to just kill me. By morning I knew I had to go to the doctor. I couldn't even walk without help and my fever was 103. The diagnosis- Influenza B. Awesome. Makoy's party was canceled and I felt so terrible. I could go into more detail but basically I have never wanted to die so bad in my life. My knees hurt from smacking together from the chills, I was seeing double, I couldn't walk on my own, my fever never went below 102.5 for FIVE days straight, my body ached so bad I could not help but thrash around, my cough was so painful, every hair follicle on my head throbbed, I couldn't talk, the room did nothing but spin. Those are just a few of the fun things that came with it. Then Saturday, I started puking my guts out on top of all that. All I could think of..."I'm puking up 90 dollar medicine!" We all were put on medicine to try and stop the whole fam from getting it. I could not stop puking so off I went to Urgent Care. I don't even remember the visit. I know I laid my head in my barf bowl I brought with at one point. Don't worry, it was empty. I got a shot and was told I must be one of the lucky ones that got hit with this strand that makes you throw up as well for whatever reason. Including surgeries but not including birth, that is the worst I have ever, ever felt. I'm finally out of bed today and able to walk around and everything. So awesome!! Thank you SO much to everyone who has helped us out during this. I physically could not take care of the kids, so they were passed around and taken care of. Thank you! Thank goodness for family. Also, a shout out to my hubby for all of his help. He was run ragged taking care of me and the kids while trying to study for tests this week and work. Thank you so much for taking such good care of me and the kids. I love you! I have missed my kids so much. It's times like this you're reminded how much you have to be grateful for!

Sorry for the extremely long and probably boring post for most people. I'm not really sure why I talked about it since it's not really a fun memory, but it's what we've been up to! Anyway, Channing turned three months on the 10th. She is getting so big! At the doctor when she was getting tests done she was 10 lbs 9 oz. She seriously looks like she weighs about 20 lbs though. She's got some seriously chubby thighs goin on! Since she has been formula fed she has been so much happier and better at night. I have many more pictures to put on here, so I will do another post soon of just pictures. Anyway, here are a few things she's doing.

She is trying to sit up when on her back

She is giggling all the time

She's eating 4 oz every 3 hrs

She gets excited when she sees you and will kick her legs and snort out of excitement

She has a death grip on my hair at all times

Her hands and fingers are her best friends. She chews on them all the time.

She is starting to figure out she can use her hands to grab things.

She usually sleeps for about six hours straight at night. HUGE improvement from an hour at a time!

We got her ears pierced. Judge all you want...I don't regret it!
Look how stinking cute she is!
Sportin some majorly chubby cheeks! She really does smile, I promise. This is her figuring out she can use her arm for things like hugs =)
Sweet baby

Munching on her fingers...always. Look at those chubby legs!
